I’m usually a naturally positive person. It has its challenges though when trying to put on a happy face for wife and kids when in constant pain. It wears on you. Keeping myself busy helps a lot. Sitting on your butt however, makes it worse because you tend to dwell on it and start feeling sorry for yourself. So stay active. It’s good for other stuff too. Sex is usually a good activity. It can be difficult getting going sometimes but the endorphins afterward help the pain a lot. I’ve found that time with my wife is better than any opioid.

Having a positive outlook and attitude is very important for general health and well-being, and it can also help one better cope with a ankylosing spondylitis diagnosis.
What or who helps you stay positive? Does staying positive come naturally to you or do you have to work at it?
We would love to hear your thoughts on this topic and any tips you have?
Thank you!
