You are going to probably get mixed opinions. Some say it can cause a flare, while others do not notice anything.
My recommendation would be to avoid it, but if you decide to drinking in moderation should be OK... and you should start very minimal, like 1/4 to half a glass if wine - I never drank liquor so, just take 1/4 of what the usual is I guess and see how it affects your Crohn's symptoms.
Also keep in mind alcohol can worsen liver disease which is a caution you should consider.
Most people though agree coffee can increase the symptoms, and the max would be that morning cup of Jo.
I hope this helps.

Hi @VAmilitary! I used to drink frequently (socially on weekends and during parties). But since my diagnosis, 6 month ago, I have a drink or two maybe once a month. Only when I’m in my own home surrounded by my family just in case I get sick. I have found if I have more than 2 drinks in one night I pay for it the next morning. So I’ve kinda determined it’s not worth it unless it’s I really feel it. It depends on if you’re in a flare and how severe your inflammation is. I would discuss with your doctor as well. Also consider what you are drinking. Certain liquors are harder on your stomach. Sodas and beer can also cause an upset stomach. I usually stick to wine but that’s just me!

Hi! Yes / No. It's a mixed bag. Personally, I have had the best luck with mixed drinks over beer or wine, as far as what might trigger a flare up. Wine hurts me at least a little bit every time, and grape juice or grapes do not do me much good either. Beer not as bad, but the carbonation I think contributes to gas & the internal pressures that go with it. But a rum & coke or margarita or two has rarely ever made me feel bad.

Hi everyone, I am newly diagnosed and a new member to this site. I enjoyed drinking previously some liquor here and there; however, for about the last month leading up to my diagnosis, I have not felt like drinking.
I am curious, does anyone have any information on whether one can drink and be ok?
Thank you in advance.
