Thank you again Somya for including me in the discussion.
It appears that I will be the first to comment on this subject. I have been on Sleep Apnea Therapy with the Bi-PAP machine for about 5 years now with no outside Peer Support, other than Facebook Groups to discuss the treatment and varying options in machines and accessories. My former Pulmonologist ordered the sleep study and then the equipment. Nothing after that from him nor the DME, other than the monthly or quarterly supplies received and any co-payment bills. Not even a discussion on the sleep reports that the machine tracks and submits back to the DME.
With my numerous health issues I did my own research on the subject as I do on all things medically related affecting me. For me personally, I cannot sleep nor even take an afternoon nap without my Bi-PAP. These (Facebook) group comments and discussions have helped me tremendously, as has doing my own research on the equipment and options. I also chime in on responses where I think I have value to add to discussions.
Would be interesting to see and hear what others have to say and what sort of peer mentoring is available to them.

@Gordon, I find your comments helpful. While I am not on bi-pap, CPAP is still a taxing process to use every night. Most pulmonologists would do well to implement a peer-to-peer support program or provide more assistance to their patients using CPAP.

Hello everyone, how are you doing today?
Using a CPAP machine to manage sleep apnea can be challenging, but a recent study shows the power of peer support in making it easier. The research found that patients with obstructive sleep apnea who received peer mentoring used their CPAP devices more consistently (for an average of 4.5 hours per night, compared to 3.7 hours for those without support) and reported higher satisfaction with their care compared to those who only received educational materials. This approach not only reduces the burden on healthcare providers but also adds a personal touch to care.
Would having someone guide you through the process make you more likely to stick with CPAP therapy?
