I am on 30 mg of Lexapro (generic brand Escilitopram)... I do not know if it really is working. I am depressed because of the pain I am in every day. I have intense pain in my elbows and nerves into my hands stemming from my neck... it has been this way for years.
Every day I wake up with the pain, so it is hard to not be depressed.

I use to take medication and see a therapist in the back. However, I have no longer do either. Now I try drawing, poetry, talking to a friend, exercising and going out instead of staying home hiding in my room because sometimes I feel worse when I’m not going anywhere. Doing things helps keep me distracted.

That's great! I started doing Zumba. And I love it. The girls are nice. And it's not a gym with a lot of people. I feel comfortable with a small group. I'm still taking my depression medication.

@Tiffany Have you noticed anything at all negatively in your depression when you got off the medicine? IF you do not mind me asking what medicine were you on?
I wish I could get off mine, but when I Stop taking medicine, I will be ok for a few weeks and then I will hit rock bottom. I hit close to rock bottom even while on anti-depressants, but lets say rock bottom is 100 ft below - I hit that weeks after I stop taking medicine, but if on it when I do get really down I hit about 80 ft below.

@Memyself I wish I could rid myself of the medicinations! Even when I exercise I still can hit close to rock bottm. I guess maybe that is because I carry around the thing that makes me depressed every day... No matter what I do my mind thinks and my body feels what is causing my depression.

I changed my psychiatrist a few months ago and the doctor seems to care much more than my prior psychiatrist. I am glad I made the change. The psychiatrist took me off a Lexapro, which I was one forever and I felt like I was not seeing the benefits any more... I am now on Celexa and Buprotrin and I am feeling it helps more. Also has helped with some nerve pain some. Additionally I reduced fat intake and it seems to have helped.

Hi everyone,
How are you today? Have you seen this older discussion?
If you haven't seen it already, we just published an article on two common medications used to treat depression: Treatment for Depression: Duloxetine (CymbaltaⓇ) and amitriptyline, what are they?
Treatments for depression tend to depend on the person affect and can include lifestyle changes, talk therapy, medication or a combination of the three.
What treatments have you tried for depression? What has worked for you? Have you ever had any side effects from any treatments? What has been less successful for you?

When it comes to treating depression, various approaches are available, including therapy (such as cognitive-behavioral therapy) and medication (such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors). One emerging treatment option is Spravato esketamine, an intranasal medication that has shown effectiveness in managing treatment-resistant depression. It's important to consult with a healthcare professional to determine the most suitable treatment plan for individual needs and preferences.

I found cannabis sublinguals incredibly convenient for discreet use and fast relief :) It helped with my anxiety and depression. However, now I prefer vaping NEXA N20000 for its ease and precise dosing. It’s a cleaner alternative that fits my lifestyle and avoids the strong taste of cannabis, which I started to dislike lately :(
