My scape has always been on prescription meds. I take my depression medication but I feel so lonely. Just moved to Tenn and is just hard and no job. I am falling and the hole seems to be deeper

I sobered up in a treatment center, with the strong support of my wife, October 2nd 1988. I lost my wife to illness 15 years ago, but I have kept my sobriety, thanks in part at least to AA and its members. I have had NO desire to drink again.

alcoholism & drug addiction run in my family. I know & understand the disease. Knowing what did to my grandfather &one brother. That keeps me in a good place. Besides I drink too much I get sick & that’s no fun.

I am a recovering alcoholic and almost 3 years sober since my older brother passed away from alcoholic liver disease. I partially got my strength to finally quit from seeing the sickness and death of my older brother and from hitting bottom in my own life. I have been documenting my path to sobriety in my blog if you are interested in a more in depth look the sobriety strategies that worked best for me.
My favorite sobriety strategies include affirmations, working on mindfulness, yoga, tai chi, surfing (exercise!), eating a whole food plant based diet, doing Wim Hoff breathing (very important!), reading the Big Book from AA though I didn't go to many meetings (mainly due to the pandemic), and reading The 30 Day Sobriety Solution.
I used marijuana for the first few years for self medication but am now almost 1 year weed free as well.
The three best blogs to check out are How to Get Sober Without AA, How to Beat Depression After getting Sober and How to do Positive Affirmations for Sobriety.
All the best,
Pat

I have been diagnosed with complex PTSD, anxiety etc. I have in the past turned to cocaine for relief, for a break from the pain. I have been over 6 months clean and desperately want to stay that way. I have already spent most of my retirement $ on it and cant spend the rest. I'm struggling through a recent end of a relationship and him moving out and the alone time is unbearable at times. I'm doing everything in my power to NOT turn to cocaine to get through the pain and loneliness. I've made it for over a week and I'm determined not to relapse. I love my family too much and need to stay healthy for them.
