@FightAZ Hi FightAZ, thank you for starting this discussion. I'm sorry to hear about your mom. Getting a new diagnosis is hard, but when it affects someone you love it almost can feel worse, can't it? Let me tag some members in our Alzheimer's community who can share some advice with you.
Hello all, how are you doing today? Do you remember the moment when you found out your loved one had Alzheimer's? How did you handle it? And how do you cope today as a loved one or caregiver? Do you have any advice or words of comfort for FightAZ? Feel free to share here, we're all here to help one another!

@FightAZ Hi, I have Alzheimer's and fortunately mine is progressing slowly for now. Not to be depressing, but I'd say to make sure you get all your mothers affairs in order now while she is coherent. Figure out what her wishes are financially, in terms of her care, and of course for her end of life.
And then, take a breath. You can do this. Now is the time to spend your time with her, video tape or record herfamily stories and childhood memories, spend time with her, cherish your time together.

Hello everyone, I've just joined this site, I hope it'll be some help to me because I could really use some. My mom has just been diagnosed and I'm reeling a bit. I guess I'm wondering if someone could give me some advice on how to cope with all of this? I'll be taking care of her because I'm the closest of my brother and sisters and I'm a stay-at-home mom, so I can take it all on. Or at least I hope I can. What should my first steps be? My mom is doing alright for now but we don't know yet how quickly it's progressing and I don't know how much longer she'll be able to take care of herself. I dont know, I'm just so overwhelmed at this point any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
