@Courtney_J For me it's the cramps and fatigue when I'm in a flare that are the worst. And the way it affects me mentally. Sometimes the cramps are so bad I can't get up and it just takes it out of me. When I'm in a flare or I feel like one is coming on I'm like always in this state of high alert and stress, it really takes a toll on me. :/

@Courtney_J The unpredictability. I do my best to avoid problem foods and to handle my mental health so I won't trigger it, but despite all of that I can be feeling good one minute and then be running to the bathroom and writhing in pain the next. It's devastating.

I totally agree with @rachelle4evr on the unpredictability of this disease. One day I can eat a certain food...two days later the cramps and diarrhea are horrendous when I eat the exact same thing.
Also the fatigue. Even if I sleep from 10 hours I feel like I have barely gotten any.

I wonder how many get along without a GI and no meds? I've had Crohns for 5+ yrs...I try to manage on my own.

@Sharonlcampbell I think it's nothing short of a miracle that you don't need meds. Maybe it depends on where in your GI tract you are inflamed with Crohn's and how severely. I use Cimzia (2 injections a month) and it works really well for me (3 years now.)

@keeppushingon Have you read up on following a Crohn's diet? I must avoid things like Red meat, pork, several different vegetables (especially your standard green leafy salad). There are many more items recommended to avoid as well. Following this "diet" has made a huge difference in my life. I would also recommend being tested for lactose intolerance and celiac. Good luck.

I have chronic diarrhea. Everything I eat and drink goes right through. My gastro doc and I can't find a way to treat it. It keeps me awake at night, and really impacted my ability to socialize, work and many other parts of my life. I had to file for disability.

Hello!
For me it is the fact that some days start out great and then...boom! Crohn's kicks in! It's always important to know where the nearest bathroom is for those unpredicted moments. Fatigue hits often, too. People saying, "you look so tired" can sometimes make me feel even more tired than I already felt! Power of suggestion I guess. Every day is an adventure! I've grown accustomed to the disease, but I always hope and pray for a cure.

Hello everyone,
How are you today?
What is the biggest challenge you face in your daily life because of your Crohn's disease? Is it the symptoms? The treatments? Or even just accepting the diagnosis? Have you had to change or adapt aspects of your life because of your Crohn's?
