Hello @athletefun,
First and foremost, thank you so much for opening up and sharing your journey with us. Your courage to speak about your struggles and the steps you've taken toward healing is incredibly moving. It's a powerful reminder that even in our darkest moments, we are not alone, and there is a path forward, illuminated by the support and understanding of those around us who love us. Counting our blessings and practising gratitude like you've described can really do wonders.
I'd love to invite others in our community to share their own experiences, coping strategies, or words of encouragement:

Hi athletefun. Thank u for sharing in such detail. I applaud u, all while suffering seasonal depression myself . I understand the insurmountable challenges all too well. I get relief in spring & summer. I have taken meds since Prozac, seen countless therapist's, & support of loved ones & family, sometimes separate. Also recently diagnosed with sleep apnea, & trying to recover from broken wrist. Current X-rays indicate plate & screws might be floating, via unscrewing. Oh boy, not what I needed to hear. Been researching depression treatments, & something that caught my eye is, a specialized form of cough syrup ingredient, + another something added can help depressed ppl quicker than traditional psych meds. Google it, terrible w data. Am going to address w/ psych next time we meet. Think anything is worth a try, if treatment resistant depression ( if patient's have tried 3 or more meds without success). Best of luck to us all!!! Been in some group therapies, yet, doesn't help everyone.

I've been through similar struggles with depression, and finding gratitude has been a game-changer. It's amazing how those little moments of thankfulness can shift your perspective.

Hey everyone,I hope you're all finding moments of peace amidst the challenges you're facing. I wanted to share a little bit about my journey with depression and how I'm finding hope, even on the darkest days. For years, I struggled silently with overwhelming sadness and a sense of emptiness that seemed to consume me. It felt like I was trapped in a never-ending cycle of despair, unable to see any light at the end of the tunnel. But through therapy, medication, and the support of loved ones, I've started to see glimpses of hope. One thing that's been incredibly helpful for me is practicing gratitude. I know it sounds cliché, but taking even just a few minutes each day to reflect on the things I'm thankful for has made a world of difference. It's helped me shift my focus from what's going wrong to what's going right, no matter how small those things may seem.I've also found solace in connecting with others who understand what I'm going through. Forums like this one have been a lifeline for me, a place where I can share my struggles without fear of judgment and find support from people who truly get it.Of course, there are still days when the darkness feels overwhelming, when getting out of bed feels like an insurmountable challenge. But on those days, I try to remind myself that it's okay not to be okay, that healing isn't linear, and that brighter days are ahead. If you're reading this and you're struggling, please know that you're not alone. Reach out for help, whether it's from a therapist, a friend, or someone here on this forum. And remember, even in the depths of despair, there is always hope.Sending love and strength to each and every one of you.
