Hi @LiliGU! How have you been?
Thank you very much for starting this discussion today! Postpartum depression can be very hard to cope with, but I hope it gets better soon. Do you have someone to talk to about how you feel? maybe a therapist or support group? I will tag some members who might want to share their thoughts on this topic!

Hi @LiliGU. Oh wow, postpartum depression sucks!! I'm not a mom, so I don't understand from postpartum standpoint, but I suffer seasonal depression. And, that plain sucks, too!! I know postpartum, u have had a baby. Is congrats appropriate? Some ppl have stillbirths. The really early days after birth are super hard!! Little sleep, continued bleeding afterwards, other pains, should a C-section have taken place, your nether regions are SO painful, etc. Getting up every few hours to feed baby. Some ppl mistakenly say it's the happiest time of life. Um, it's more like torture. First, don't get down on yourself, u are not the problem ( the prob is w others, who don't know what u are going thru. Only u know what u feel. U can Try to explain it to folks, but they'll just think & maybe outright say, what's wrong w u. If u need distance from baby now, it is ok! These feelings are not permanent, honest. U are not a bad mom for feeling like this, others go thru it, too. U simply feel alone. And, I'm deeply sorry. Don't know if u can take meds if u are breast feeding, suspect not. Try talk therapy. Some are offered online. Don't know if I helped or not. Best wishes!

@Dr.WhoPeggygmail.com Hi!
Thank you so much. And Yes congrats is appropriate in my case! I have a lovely baby boy now. I tried to go on a weekend trip away with my best friend and it was nice. I felt like a bad mother at first I can't lie but when I came back I felt a lot better. I will keep doing that from time to time to just be with my thoughts and recharge. I am sorry to hear about your seasonal depression. I go through that myself. What helps you to cope with it?

@LiliGU hi. Again congrats on baby boy!! Weekend getaway sounds wonderful!! I work on call, so my time really isn't mine. As far as treating my depression, I've taken antidepressants forever! They don't seem to help anymore, sadly. I took new treatment end of this winter, TMS, transcranial magnetic stimulation. Like ECT ( shock treatments) but don't need to be put to sleep w anesthesia. Magnet goes on head, done outpatient, for 36 visits ( every day!). Huge commitment, time wise. I made the time, told my supervisor & their boss, what I had to do. They were flexible enough & went off w/o a hitch. I'm not a mom, so I can't speak to what will work for u. I also use a full spectrum light, in winter. Helps some. I do wish u well. U are Not a bad mom!

Hi there
Congrats on your baby boy! I suffered from pretty bad postpartum depression myself and what helped me was good old therapy. 2 times per week for 6 months and I got back on track! I hope that can help you

Hi; I am struggling for a couple of months now with Postpartum depression and I don't know how to feel good again. Has anyone had that? How did you cope?
