Hi, I dont really have much of a story. But I will share, I'll be happy if it helps someone.
I did a routine blood test about a year ago, I have been doing it regularly, every 2 years or so, my mum who is a hospital nurse, she insists on it, even if I'm relatively young, and don't have any health conditions. Well, didn't have, before they discoverred I have ITP. So anyway, I did this test, they discovered that the platelet count was low, at first my doctor said it was nothing to worry about, then I did the second test and it confirmed the count was too low. So he suggested I do other exams to try and find out what was wrong. I did lots of other blood tests, and I also had to do a bone marrow exam which was not exactly a pleasant experience. So here I am now, with my diagnosis, but still no symptoms, so no treatment. I know it can get pretty bad, and it is bad for some other patients, the doctor who diagnosed me said he knew a case back when he worked in Utah (I live in Michigan). That patient of his bruised very quickly, and had issues with bleeding, had to go to the emergency room a couple of times and all, so I consider myself really lucky!

@LizziB I have not tried Papaya leaf. The only thing in terms of diet I have found to help is to avoid alcohol and to decrease or avoid refined sugar. My platelets still drop but it seems not as much. My low platelets are due to auto-immune disease. My doctor however says there is nothing in terms of diet that helps. thanks, Lynette
