What are some myths or misconceptions you've heard about lung cancer?

@Courtney_J Thanks for the tag, sorry I haven't really been active on here lately, COVID and life have gotten in the way.

I think the biggest or most common one for me is that if you don't smoke you can't get lung cancer. I'm proof that that's not true,  but I always grew up thinking that it was. 

I guess also for me is that a lung cancer diagnosis is a death sentence. Again, I'm proof that it isn't. I know a lot of people are unfortunately taken by it, but over the years and with science things are getting better and if we can catch it sooner people can live longer or even survive it. 

Sorry for the rant, just my two cents on it all.

@cancerdepulmon I agree with the death sentence one. I think there's like this assumption that its fatal. If you catch it early it is treatable.

I don't know if this counts, but I actually had someone say to me once that since I was a smoker I'd basically "brought lung cancer upon myself", like I had asked for it. That was pretty messed up.
