I have tinnitus. I'm pretty convinced that it came from very loud concert music way back when. I also have some hearing loss these days. When I asked the audiologist about my tinnitus, she said that hearing aids can work to reduce it. And, for me anyway, it worked. I still have it at night when I take the hearing aids out. But I listen to ocean sounds at night when I'm trying to fall asleep. Works for me.

I have had tinnitus since I was just a kid. I started falling occasionally, and over the years it began to be noticed occasionally. Everyone thought I was just clumsy and lazy. My wife finally saw me have a bad spell. I was jerking around against the wall, trying to make the world stop spinning and failing. My wife said it looked like a seizure. At first, I was told I had Mèniére's disease and underwent two shots into my middle ear, neither of which did anything. He heard my wife say seizure and he said "Mèniére's doesn't do that," and left the room without any explanations. My GP sent me to a neurologist who said it sounded like conversion disorder, but he wanted me to go back to the ENT to be sure. So I'm in limbo.

I've lived with it for years. Fortunately it's not mind numbing but is annoying at times. I'm told there's nothing that can be done and yet see the treatment adds on TV.

Yes I do experience the ear thing. I sometimes go to the doctor or I manage the symptoms myself. Occasionally I use and antibiotic for the inner ear if I can’t get the symptom under control.

Hello everyone,
I hope you’re all doing well today. 😊
Tinnitus is a condition where a person perceives sound without an external source, meaning that others around you cannot hear it. While it is often described as a ringing in the ears, people with tinnitus may also hear other sounds, such as buzzing, hissing, roaring, or clicking. 👂
There are several potential causes of tinnitus, including prolonged exposure to loud noises, age-related hearing loss, certain medications (like aspirin, antibiotics, or diuretics), and injuries to the head or neck. Additionally, chronic conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, migraines, thyroid disorders, and autoimmune diseases like lupus and multiple sclerosis can also contribute to or worsen tinnitus.
Do you experience tinnitus? If so, how often do you notice it? What strategies or treatments have helped you manage or reduce the symptoms?
Let’s share our experiences and support each other.
Take care,
Somya from the Carenity team 🌼
