I have a number of chronic conditions that I am seeing several doctors for. I have moderate to severe COPD with Emphysema, Asthma and Sleep Apnea, among other things. Pretty much on supplemental oxygen 24/7. Was on the O2 only at night with the Bi-PAP for the Apnea until last December when a COPD Exacerbation put me in the hospital for a few days. Was sent home with the orders for a new home concentrator and oxygen tanks for when going out.
I am a former smoker of 40 years who quit 20 years ago when a lung collapsed from the Emphysema. Ten years later with my first stay in the hospital for an Exacerbation I was given supplemental oxygen, but only for night time use...
I have several pulse/oximeters which I use daily. My issue to get off of my chest is this:
Each time when at my Pulmonologist appointments my O2 saturation is measured over 93% at rest. Each of the walk tests showed my levels at or above 90%. However, at home when I get up in the mornings, take off the Bi-PAP with the supplemental Oxygen, make a cup of coffee and sit at my desk, my saturation levels show at 80 to 85% until I put on the concentrator with 2 lpm flow. Then it will routinely raise up to 93 to 95%. If I go anywhere without the supplemental O2, I get short of breath and my levels drop to the low 80's. Any physical activity will bring it down to 80% or lower. But sitting in the Pulmonologist's office, it never goes below 90%.
Thank you for listening...

Hello everyone,
How are you doing today? 😊
We all have moments where we wish we could say something but feel we can't. Whether it's a tough conversation, an unshared frustration, or simply something weighing on your mind, sometimes it's easier to share in a supportive community.
This discussion is a safe space for you to get things off your chest. Whether it's about your health, personal struggles, or anything else, feel free to express yourself here. We're here to listen, understand, and support each other. 🤗
To get the conversation started:
What is something you've been wanting to say but haven't felt able to? Is there something you would like to say to someone but can't?
