I am in favor of the handicap placard system. As someone with progressive MS, there are many days that I just run to pick up medication and find no handicap parking spaces available. On days that I feel pretty strong, it is not a problem but days that I am struggling, I need to park close. I see many individuals with handicap placards who park in the designated spaces who seem to have no problem walking or talking. I am not the one to judge! These individuals may have a handicap that is unseen and unknown to me. The individuals that have acquired a handicap placard and have no disability should be ashamed!

Hi everyone,
Did you know, under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), there are minimum standards that must be legally met for disabled parking. Combined with state laws, it a requirement for public agencies and private businesses to have a minimum number of disabled parking places available. For every 25 spots in a parking lot, the number of required designated parking spots is increased by one. They must be located in a location that provides the most accessible route to the entrance of the building.

Do you, a relative, or friend use this parking placard system? Do you find that it meets your needs? Or do you struggle to find parking and find that it does not serve it's desired function?
Let's share!
Take care,
Lizzi from the Carenity Team
