Hello @AS1218, how are you feeling today?
Thank you for starting this discussion. I'm sorry to hear that your ankylosing spondylitis has been causing you so much discomfort. It's understandable to have concerns about making dietary changes, especially when it involves removing foods you enjoy, but remember that these changes can take time and patience. It's okay to start small and gradually make adjustments.

Have you had to significantly change your diet since your diagnosis? Did it help in managing your AS symptoms? Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you so much and have a great day!
Take care,

At the same time I found out I had AS I also found out that I am a diabetic along with a few other fun things. It is a little difficult for me to know for sure because I changed my eating habits, started Cimzia and changed a few other meds I do feel like cutting out sugar and highly processed foods has helped and I have lost 45 pounds.

Cutting out butter and sugar might be challenging, particularly if you're committed to your diet. A number of ankylosing spondylitis sufferers have reported that eating differently has lessened their symptoms. They made an effort to consume more anti-inflammatory fruits, vegetables, and good fats, without giving up everything they loved. Try that and note the response your body has. It might help you with your issues, you never know! [This content has been moderated by an administrator]

I did a complete diet change. It was hard at first but after six weeks the change I experienced was enough to make it way more desirable than the yummy taste of the foods. I was very strict at first and did an elimination diet. Now I am more moderate and eat those things on occasion without much trouble. I also do a lot of yoga, relaxation techniques and meditation. All these things significantly help. Diet is key. Stress management is key. Gratitude is key.

@Snolen I also did quite a lot of exercises and seemed to give up. Does anyone have a better solution to improve health?

@slice master I also learned that I had AS at the same time. In addition to a few other exciting discoveries, I also learned that I have diabetes. I started taking Cimzia, changed a few other medications, and altered my dietary habits, so it is a little hard for me to say for sure. I have shed forty-five pounds, therefore I think giving up sugar and highly processed meals has helped.

Hello
My ankylosing spondylitis has really been acting up lately. My doctor said I may be able to reduce the pain if I change my diet, but I'm doubtful. I'm from the south and I can't see myself removing butter or sugar from my diet. So I wanted to see if anyone else has experience with changing their diet.
God bless.
