@lstewart7 I am so sorry to hear of your diagnosis and having it in various locations of the body, I cannot imagine the increase in worry you must feel.
Your question is a great question and one that I do not think there is one answer for... especially because what works for one may not work for others.
To not stress about whether it is going to work or not would be not to think about it... I would say do all you can as far as preparation and then try to enjoy every moment before and during treatment. By preparation, I mean do all the leg work: the research of the cancer and treatments, ask your doctor all your questions that you have, do not stop until you feel you have gotten a real and full answer from your doctor on your questions, talk to more than one doctor, prepare yourself and your home (your care/help, your food, your relaxation, etc.) to be stress free during treatment/recovery...

@lstewart7 really sorry to hear of your diagnosis, when i was first diagnosed i also began meeting with a mental health professional specifically to learn and practice ways to get out of my head... although it's not always 100% possible to do so, there are breathing and mindfulness techniques that i learned that helped me a great deal. if it's possible for you to see someone (who specializes in dealing with patients with chronic pain/life changing diagnosis) I would recommend it. If even a few sessions would be helpful in my opinion.

also - to the extent it's possible, continue to do what you love. IF there is a hobby you love to do or people you love to spend time with, try to continue doing so for as long as you possibly can, that'll help you get out of your head and not lose yourself to your diagnosis.

How are you doing @lstewart7? I would recommend you also try to surround yourself with positivity - people, books, tv, radio, etc... it will help you keep from stressing out!

I am newly diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. I have it in my brain, lung, and liver. I am so afraid that the radiation therapy is not going to work on my brain that I am so stressed out. Are there tricks, techniques or anything else that can help me? Thank you in advance.
