Hello members,
A diagnosis of cancer often has major impacts to marriages and relationships... the diagnosis not only impacts the individual diagnosed with cancer but also their spouse or partner. A cancer diagnosis can, and often does, bring out the best in spouses/partners through magnifying their strength, their love, and their dedication; however, it may also bring out the not so good as well.
Sadness, anxiety, anger, or even hopelessness may be emotions both individuals experience. Stressors may impact the marriage or relationship, such as financial stress, physical and emotional/mental exhaustion, and time management. Roles may change, responsibilities may need to be re-adjusted, and physical and emotional/mental needs may be altered.
In this discussion, members - both individuals diagnosed with cancer and spouses and partners - are encouraged to share their experiences and stories on how cancer affected their marriage or relationship, how they adapted or readjusted, share advice, and give support.
