Hi, & thx for starting question, Somya. Loss of anyone special is cruel, at it's best. Both folks are long gone, & just had another Uncle pass. Was in his 90's. Plus, he was an electrical engineer when the States had space shuttle program. He was 1 of the guys who helped that program fly. Pretty awesome I'd say!!! Felt not well enough to attend service, & wasn't recorded. But, w cousins help, followed along w bulletin & photos. I'm the age when all, except 1, elder, have gone. Weirdly, the oldest seems to outlive the younger ones. I'm oldest of my brother & myself. And, don't feel the healthiest. PT for wrist & EKG are on docket for me this week.
Anyway, I digress. Loss of anyone, SO hard! I've gone to support groups, all in person, before covid. Some more helpful than others, true for anything. Good memories help, crying, screaming, if necessary, do play a part. Everyone grieves differently. No wrong or right way to do it. Embarrassed to say, I also binge ate. Put on Ton of weight!! Things are bit better now. Yet, I'll say, the pain of loss Never goes away, however, the intensity does. Perhaps not much consolation upon dealing with loss, in the moment. But, yes, life, et al, will get better. I've stayed in touch w some of facilitators, who are pleased I have, email, FB, other ways. Really no way around grief, we all feel it someway or another. Called circle of life. It just plain sucks for we who remain!!!!

Losing my grandpa was tough. Friends who'd been through similar stuff helped just by being there. But hearing cliches like "stay strong" didn't really help. Sharing stories about him kept his memory alive, though.

My Dad died 7 months ago. He was 93 yrs old. We all traveled to Florida where they had lived for 31 yrs, and where the hospice was. For that 31 years, my brothers and I all lived far away from them and raised our families. I'm in N.Y. As they got older and had more health issues, I was the one who always flew down to care for them. Frequently! I am a retired nurse and the only daughter. My parents and I have always been close. But, in the wake of my fathers death, I have felt anger and resentment towards him and feel guilty for feeling angry. I know that anger is one of the stages of death.

@Bemitch53 Hi. First, sincere condolences on loss of your Dad. Yes, memories are crucial!!! Grief sucks, all around. Anger is very normal, let yourself feel it, despite Horrible!!! I've lost both mine, & feeling emotions is, scary, yet, Only way thru. I still miss both & they've been gone years. Hang in best u can.

I lost my kids father a few years back. We weren't together anymore but we remained friends. It was so sad and it still hurts today. I feel bad for my kids because they don't have him in their life anymore. And our daughter is pregnant and he won't get to see his grandchild. I don't know how I deal with it I just try.

I lost my best friend a few years back, and it was a rough time. Talking about him with friends and family really helped me process things. I used to listen to his favorite music and visit spots we used to hang out at. It was like keeping a bit of him with me.
Trying to avoid the topic or pretending it didnβt hurt only made things worse. What really helped was joining a grief support group where I could share my feelings and hear from others in the same boat. Everyone grieves differently, but finding people who get it made a big difference for me.

For those who have shared before, how are you feeling these days? Have there been any new ways you've found comfort or moments where you felt your loved oneβs presence?
