My boyfriends dad knows i got depression and i dont like myself and he tells me everything i do wrong and it makes me hate myself even more

Hi @Bunnygirl11‍. I get what you mean. And how how frustrating that feels. My mom’s husband does that. He’s old school. Doesn’t understand mental illness at all. And says mean shit. He honestly doesn’t even mean for it to come out as mean, he thinks he’s trying to be helpful but the things he says are hurtful and insensitive. When I was younger it really hurt me. As I’ve aged, and learned more about my diseases...AND the fact that a lot of people..especially older people, simply just don’t understand it...it’s started to hurt me a lot less. I just let what he says go in one ear and out the other. Don’t let it get to you. He has NO idea what your going through. Just remember, YOU are a fighter, you are strong and in the end, his ignorant words really don’t mean anything. You just ignore it and keep fighting ❤️
