@Elizabeth04 Hi Elizabeth04, thank you for opening this discussion and welcome again! It can be hard opening up to family about our mental health, and even more so to help others understand what we're feeling. Let me tag some other members who can possibly share some advice.
Hi everyone, how do you start the conversation about depression with your friends and family? How do you explain what you're going through to them? Do they understand? Do you have any advice to share?

@Courtney_J Honestly I think it was easier for me with my kids. Explaining "why mommy is sad" in simple terms and them just accepting it. It's when it comes to the adults in my life that it gets hard, because there's always people like "look on the bright side" "it's not that bad", etc. I get it.
This may seem weird, but maybe just going at it with them like they're kids? Walk them through what you're feeling step by step until they get it?

I just joined today and it was a big step for me. Just recently have I admitted that I feel depressed to my parents and myself but they don’t seem to understand why. They just say “you have no reason to be depressed,” or “why are you depressed.” I can’t answer that question cause truth is, I’m not sure. I just feel like I I’m slowly drifting away and I have no motivation whatsoever to do anything anymore. Any advice?
