@Courtney_J It hasn't happened to me in years since I have a pretty good handle on my asthma, but I happened a few times when I was a kid. The first I wanna say two times I just stayed overnight, and then after that it was mostly ER visits for a few hours for rescue treatment. I remember being really scared the first few times because I was young, but when I got older and knew what was going to happen it got better. Obviously having an asthma attack is scary, but the idea of going to the hospital was less scary. I guess I'd say to try to stay calm through it all and listen to what the doctors say about your condition and the meds to take

Hi there,
This is an important discussion question that I think needs more visibility. I am going to tag a few other members who might have some experiences to share.

Have you ever had to go to the ER for an asthma attack? What were the circumstances? What did they do at the hospital? Do you have any advice for other members?
Take care,
Lizzi

My asthma has never sent me to the ER but to the doctor in the same day and that's usually because I'm sick and it flares my asthma/breathing.

Yes 2 times. Once in 2022 when I was at my PCP office I had asthma attack. He called EMS and went to ER. Stayed one night. Left next day. Second time was in March 2024. I went to PCP because I had bad asthma. Had an attack there and he sent me to ER but I was back home that night

My first hospitalization occurred when I was about 10 months old. Half of my first years were spent in hospitals for asthma control. My asthma was very uncomfortable requiring many hospital stays til I was about 11. Now I rarely require inpatient maintenance.

Hello everyone,
How are you today?
On some occasions, a severe asthma attack can require admission to the hospital in order to treat it and calm the symptoms.
Has this ever happened to you? Have you ever had to go to the ER for an asthma attack? What were the circumstances? Do you have any advice?
