From the moment of symptoms... How quick was action taken?

I began to slur my words, but I could not tell. A friend at the time, who I was having a conversation with sensed something was wrong and called 911. I was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

 You were very fortunate that your friend recognized the symptoms.   

I had trouble discerning my symptoms and as I live alone there was no one to recognize what was going on.  My right foot suddenly became numb but I had no trouble walking.  That was about 3-4 pm.  I felt very agitated but wasn’t sure what was going on.  By 6pm I was feeling strange and had been checking a mirror to see if the side of my face was drooping. Nothing.  I continued to feel strange and decided to call my neighbor but I had trouble dialing her number.  I persisted and finally got her on the phone.  She came right over and drove me to the emergency room to get checked out.  I was in the hospital for 3 days where I discovered that I had had a TIA and a crptogenic stroke.   I was extremely fortunate in that I have no residual symptoms except having to relearn my home address and the names of my great grandchildren.
