Hello @nataliewastaken, thank you for starting this discussion and sharing what you've been going through. It can be really hard when depression zaps you of your energy and drive. Let me tag some other members who can possibly share with you.
Hi everyone, how are you doing?
Have you ever found it hard to find motivation with your depression? Has it ever been hard to get out of bed, complete daily tasks, or even uphold your responsibilities like work, family, or school? If so, how did you deal with it? Who or what did you turn to for help?

I had the motivation issues when I was in school. I went to my doctor and explained what was happening about not wanted to go to school. Well 1 I got diagnosed with ADHD and then got told to make a short term goal everyday it can be very small. My goal back then was if I go to school I could see my bf (ex) and after while my brother came up with idea has of if I go to school everyday and I get passing grades every week we would go to Wisconsin Dell's for the weekends so that pushed me to go to school and get good grades. Now with work. Its a long story of y I dont have motivation going to work but I still go to work because the reason being is I need to stay busy to not let my mind slip into a bad place again. The reason y is because I had a really bad episode with my depression at the beginning of October and I almost died because of a suicide attempt. But either way now the motivation and not let depression to get to me is my daughter. My daughter is my motivation to get through the days. I have to fight for my daughter. All u got to do is tell yourself u can do it and dont let your depression take u down. Trust me it's hard to do but its possible.

I find it very hard to stay motivated but, one thing that helps me is listening to music or watching my favorite show. Sometimes I try to work around the house just to not think about things.

This is and has been a big issue for me. I'm on disability and every day is like a drag for me to do things or things that once interested me. I have found that music is the one and the only thing that can really help me reconnect with some sort of life. It is a daily struggle, but I just take it one day at a time. That's all you can really do. I remember when I was working and I would have a manic episode brought on by work stress, the fallout would be dire. The depression would hit me like a brick wall and at times seemed like it would never go away. I would lay in bed for days not wanting to get out and do anything. Nowadays, when I have a manic episode the depression afterward always seems like the worst. I turn to my music, which doesn't always get me out of bed, but gets me thinking about the memories, some good and some bad, that the songs bring. It's a fine line to walk with depression and work/school or life in general, but you can only take it a day at a time, take your medicine. talk with your doctors and therapist and go from there. I wish you luck.
