Hello @cancerdepulmon
How are you feeling today? :)
Thank you for opening this very important discussion. The harmful effects of smoking are well documented and second hand smoking is no different. It is always better to maintain a fair distance away wile they are smoking.
I shall tag members who could give their 2 cents on the matter-
@jkelly @BobPreston @Im2spicy @sandrahughes @misscynthia @cindydorr @CharlesLRJ @Chicken little @Rmnana15 @Jlg7421 @Ginny9 @joymartinez23 @Fayegoodwin @critt01 @Djr2620 @Joyful326 @Mothermary68 @Fightenirish @MOJO13 @Peg123 @grandma of 15 @DarlaMccallister @Jskinner4 @Davidy @Jeanie1234
What do you think about second hand smoking and its negative effects? How do you actively try to avoid smoking or fumes from smoking?
Eager to hear your thoughts in the comments!

Being around smoke occasionally can still be a concern, even if you’ve stopped smoking. I used to be in a similar situation where I’d be around friends who smoked. I found that using a Packman disposable helped me steer clear of secondhand smoke. It’s not a perfect solution, but it helped me avoid cravings and keep my distance from the fumes. It might be worth trying something similar if you find yourself in smoky environments.

I completely understand as I don’t have anyone to talk to also. I’m a widow & I live alone. My oldest son died in 2021 & my youngest son & his family live 3 hours. My father is dead & my mother has chronic back pain & is immobile. My younger sister lives with our mother & she is going through a divorce from her husband who abandoned her. My sister doesn’t visit me, help me, call me & rarely texts me. I have various cousins, a niece & nephew that are spread out in nearby states but are hours away from me. After I told my friends I had cancer, they quit contacting me. I have learned how to be my own care giver. It has been very difficult. I’ll admit I’ve been depressed, cried a lot, felt sorry for myself but I never gave up. I prayed & read my Bible everyday. Then I found cancer groups online like this one where I could share what I was going through & got empathetic responses. That really kept me going. I hope you find someone to talk to but I highly recommend the online cancer chat groups.

I used to be a long time smoker before I was diagnosed with lung cancer. Obviously I had to break my habit, and I am happy to report that I have not touched a cigarette since. However my friends still smoke, and sometimes I am in their vicinity, exposing me to the fumes, evn if I try to avoid it. How bad is it to be exposed to some fumes sometimes, taking into consideration that I stopped smoking completely?
