Hi
I am new, just joined. I'm 34 and what I have is NASH, no lesion. My AST was 52 and my ALT was 123 about 3 months ago. I was 253 lb and now I'm 223. I plan on getting new bloodtests from the private sector soon. I changed my diet drastically : more greens, little whole wheat bread and brown rice, chicken breast, tuna, salmon etc. Lots of water(when i remember) I dont drink soda or energy drinks any more. I also try to stay away from fast food. I still don't exercise as much as I should, but that's my next thing. I've give myself a cheat day one day a week, but I think I may need to give that up soon if my numbers don't get better.... I am here looking for hope that this can be reversed. I am embarrased to be so young with a self-incurred death wish. If anyone has reversed NASH with just diet and exercise, let me know. It literally seems impossible, but maybe there is hope for me....

Hello. I had been experiencing intense pain on my right side for at least a year, and it turned out to be my liver. I was floored as I do not drink, but I was very overweight. My main symptom was the pain and feeling lousy 24-7. I also had type 2 diabetes. I am not sure where one ends and the other begins. I began intermittent fasting, ate more fiber, and fewer carbs, and that seems to help. I still have occasional pain, but don't feel crummy all the time. I think my NASH had progressed quite a bit, but I am not 100% sure. I am also not sure when the fatty liver began, but probably decades ago. Doctors seem to know nothing about this.

Good morning. I was very recently diagnosed with NASH S2 and F0. I have no idea what any of this means yet, as I am still undergoing testing. I was diagnosed with a hyperkinetic gallbladder this week as well and will have it removed. I am scheduled for a liver biopsy on Tuesday. I am completely overwhelmed.

My experience with NASH is that it started from diabetes and went into NASH and now chirosos of the liver. I also have just recently been diagnosed with pancreatic insufficiency. I am not sure if they are related or not? I have only had one real scare with NASH and that was a couple of years ago my liver studies AST and ALT went over 300 but they finally came down and I was so thankful.

Hi,
I am very nervous. I have had ALT and AST increases back in 2016 my ALT was 40, then in 2021 it started to get ALT 80 and AST 60 (I think). I had an ultrasound in 2021 and showed moderate fatty liver. Then I got my blood work on August 28th, and ALT was 137 and AST 80. I then got another ultrasound and my doctor had his office call me and said you had a change in the fat in your liver and may be why ALT is high. Redo blood work in 3 weeks and then see what will do next. This is making me so upset waiting. I am not sure if he thinks I have NASH.First ultrasound 2021 said:Impression: Moderate steatosis with focal fatty sparing
Parenchyma: Increased echogenicity, posterior acoustic attenuation, decreased periportal echogenicity. Gallbladder fossa adjacent hypoechogenicity. In addition, liver was 16.3 cm.New ultrasound says, comparing to the 2021 ultrasound:Impression: Hepatic steatosis
Parenchyma: Moderate diffuse increased echogenicity with smooth echotexture and acoustic beam attenuation. Most consistent with moderate hepatic steatosis. In addition, liver is now 14.9 cm.I tried to send him a message to see what he thinks, but have not heard back. I cannot sleep and so stressed.Does anyone have any idea or insight for me? Thank you in advance.

Hi.....I have been diagnosed with NAFLD as of December 2023 . My story is very weird, and I am still trying to figure out how this happened. I am 72 and quit drinking in 1987. So definitely non-alcoholic liver disease. My doctor calls it Metabolic Liver disease since He feels I am genetically predisposed.
I have had high cholesterol and slightly high ALT never over 87, and normal ASP. I have had ultrasounds up until 2022 , all were negative, a year later I had a fibro scan, and he called upset that I had stage 3 fibrosis! How do you go from a normal ultrasound result to one stage away from cirrhosis in one year??? He ordered a liver biopsy , that was not fun, but it showed hepatic steatosis with one area of bridging (scarring) He is stumped by this outcome. I just had a new abdominal ultrasound on October 8th, and it now shows a 0.6 cyst and increased fat in my liver . Pancreas, gallbladder and kidneys normal and liver is not enlarged.
I am 126 lbs., so obesity is not the cause and alcoholic in recovery over 35 years. I will say at an old 72 I have had a diet any child would love, sugar, fat, bread , pasta, fried foods and plenty of pizza and ice cream, but come on, all of a sudden, I am on the verge of cirrhosis?
I find most doctors dismiss fatty liver and fibrosis as something you just live with. My doctor told me to take 800 mg of Vitamin E that's it! However now there is a new drug for fatty liver but you need to take it before it develops into cirrhosis, so that is what he is working on for me. My new fibro scan is scheduled for November here is hoping I have not developed Cirrhosis.....I seem to develop diseases overnight.
I have read a lot on diet and seems you can reverse fatty liver ......cut out sugar, especially fructose, fats, processed foods and deserts and drink black regular coffee 2 time a day--yeah, go figure!
My heart goes out to all of us trying to digest what has happened to our health by this insidious disease. Keep the faith and stay strong . Sometimes life just sucks!
