I've never participated in one. I know how important they are, though. All the new treatments they've come out with like the COVID vaccine or even the biotherapies that have come out in recent years for RA and other conditions are really helping to make strides in patient care. That being said, I'm not sure that I'd want to be the guinea pig for some of these things, I'm not a risk taker so I guess I'd be afraid of getting the placebo or of having a bad reaction. Kudos to those who volunteer for them though!

I was in a clinical Trial at the Mayo Clinic ISPY 2, for Triple Negative metaplastic breast cancer. I was stage 3 with some local spreading to my chest wall and Lymph Nodes. I ended up taking myself off the trial because my tumor became so large my breast was Swollenx10, Red and the pain was Unbearable. Later on in my treatment at Avera Cancer Institute Under the care of World Reknowed Breast Cancer Researcher , Brian Leyland-Jones I was put on 1 year of KEYTRUDA. I’m not sure which cured me, however here I am Five years later.

I was in a clinical trial when I was a child. My parents enrolled me in a trial of the Salk vaccine against polio. At the time, they didn’t know if I received the vaccine or a placebo. As it turned out, I did receive the vaccine. I still have the Polio Pioneer Card I received with Dr. salk’s autograph on it.

Yes I've actually participated in a couple different trials.
One was for Betapace for my Ventricular Tachycardia.
I was given my medication free for a few years as I joined late in the trial.
And the other was Baclofen time released for my Spasticity. I was given my medication free during trial and paid each visit and for special testing. I made
$ 1500.00 for the whole year.
And yes I would do it again. Prefer the money ones of course😁

I have never been in a clinical trial but certainly would participate if there was one in my area. I feel they are important.

Hello everyone,
How are you today?
Following the publication of our new article (What is a clinical trial?) I thought I'd open this discussion!
Clinical trials aim to improve the care and treatment of patients at all stages of their health condition.
What about you? Have you ever participated in a clinical trial? What were your motivations?
If not, would you be interested in doing so? Why or why not?
Feel free to discuss in the comments here!
Take care,
Courtney
