I have heard of it but have never tried it.
I found this in research from Harvard Medical School:
Few side effects have been reported from spirulina when used at recommended doses. But it may worsen symptoms of an autoimmune disorder and can interfere with blood clotting. Most importantly, this type of algae theoretically could contain the amino acid phenylalanine and thus should be avoided by people who have phenylketonuria (PKU) — a metabolic disorder in which the body can't metabolize phenylalanine. If you're using spirulina, let your health provider know, as it could interact with other medications you might be taking.

Hi @Gordon,
Wow, what an impressive system you’ve set up! I can see how having a routine like that makes things easier to manage, with so many different meds, supplements, inhalers, and even injectables in the mix. I love the idea of visually organizing everything: simple yet so effective. 😊Thinking of every detail, and the level of dedication it takes to maintain that routine daily, is really inspiring.
Do you ever face any difficulties with your routine, like days when it’s harder to stick to it or when you have to adjust it?
Thanks again for sharing, it’s amazing to see how you’ve made it work!
Take care,
Somya from the Carenity Team 🌼

On some occasions I still find that I have missed a dose or forgotten something. Then of course there are medication changes at times. A new med, change of frequency, etc. Sunday's are the days that I need to sort, verify enough doses for the week, add to my prepared stock, check on the pharmacy orders for refills as necessary and mark the evening pill bottles with the "N" to separate by the two daily sections in my weekly sorter. I will soon be changing to the 4 dose daily from the 2 dose daily box and have to adjust for that.
Thank you again for your interest. It's always a pleasure to chat with you.

Hello @Gordon,
Thank you again for sharing. We don’t talk nearly enough about the level of organizational skills it takes to manage a chronic illness, it truly feels like a job in and of itself. The dedication and attention to detail that you put into sorting, scheduling, and tracking everything is very inspiring. Just wanted to let you know that we see and commend you for taking charge of your health, even when it can feel overwhelming to stay on top of each change. It’s no small feat!
Take care,

Thank you for your kind response. Having a loving and supportive wife makes all the difference in the world too. I now move on to my next chapter in the many chronic illnesses to find out the severity of my Diastolic Heart Failure. With my COPD getting worse lately and several other markers for this, my Pulmonologist is scheduling me for a lung ultra sound to see how extensive the Plural Effusion is on my right lung and my Cardiologist has me scheduled for the nuclear stress test (Cardiac Amyloidosis Testing) after a few other tests recently completed.

Hello everyone,
How are you all doing today? 😊
Spirulina is often touted as a “superfood,” believed to boost energy and improve overall well-being. It's packed with nutrients like iron, protein, and vitamins, but its effects can vary from person to person. While some people feel a noticeable increase in energy, others may not experience any significant changes.
It’s always a good idea to consult with a healthcare professional before adding spirulina to your diet, especially if you have specific health conditions.

Have you ever tried spirulina? What effects did you notice after introducing it into your routine? Which form (powder, capsules, tablets) do you prefer and why?
Looking forward to hearing your experiences and feedback!
Take care and have a great day,
Somya from the Carenity team 🌼
