Hi, I am new to this site, and have enjoyed the comments. I have depression, COPD and other medical issues. I am blessed because it all seems to be under control. My main problem is loneliness. This COVID has me unable, mentally and physically to leave my house. I have become scared to drive. I was an avid exerciser, but unable to motivate to do that anymore. My strength is slowly ebbing. I stopped going to church as I don't feel comfortable there anymore. I am a mess.

@Tinkal I was workig over 12 hours a day being a teacher 2 weeks plus over 12 hours on the weekend. I didn't notice my body giving out on me and my arms/legs were on fire when the ambulance came for me they took me to ER. That is the first time age 60 dealing with anxiety, so we both have the same think I think because I am very scared to go outside I can't explain why I am scared to be outside on the sidewalk, but haven't tried because my heart races high. I am scared that I might have a heart attack. I have to have my oxygen with me to go to the car because of the fear I have. I have COPD too called Bronchietasis. I am glad to meet you!

I am doing okay considering I need 2-3 weeks of treatment of antibotics again. Looking on the positive side I know it could be worst like not to be mobile. At least I can still walk around and do light yard work unlike before. Yes, I just retired so I definitely feel lonely because my job defined me as a teacher for 21 years not I don't feel important anymore. How I pass my time I am so busy in the morning because 3 medical devices I have to use to get my medicine. Mostly getting my oxygen. After that time slot taken away in the morning it is already 11:30am. Breakfast then on the computer researching topic sometimes prepare for dinner, sometimes I pick small projects to around the house (clean, organize, make calls to pharmacy gas co. , ) Spending time with the love of my love are my pets which require my care 4 cats 2 dogs. I do the grooming which is very big job even bigger making 3 hour prep. of cooking. They are all worth it because they me laugh. I love gardening my biggest passion because I help nature while making my yard look beautiful.

I live w/chronic diseases/illnesses for 26 yrs. I'm okay right now, as I write this. I say okay bcuz it might/does change rapidly. Yes. Sometimes I do feel lonely, but I do have support from my wonderful/patient hubby, even w/his own health issues. My daughter, her man help me immensely when they come over. I'm grateful to everyone who has helped mme.very thankful that I can deal with everything today/most days.

As for me today, I'm feeling alright. My fatigue isn't too bad, which is always a good thing. I actually managed to take a walk in the park this morning, which made me smile. Seeing the sunshine and fresh air was a real mood booster.
Coping with the loneliness can be tough. I try to stay connected with friends and family as much as possible, even if it's just quick texts or video chats. Also, there's this great online support group for people with my condition - it's been a lifesaver. Just knowing you're not alone and there are other people going through similar things is a huge help.
Hobbies are my saving grace! When I'm feeling up to it, I love to [insert your hobby]. It gives me a sense of accomplishment and takes my mind off things for a while.

Hello all,
I thought I'd reopen this discussion so that we could welcome the newest Carenity members. There have been quite a few during the last month, and we'd like them to feel at home here at Carenity, so how about leaving them a small welcoming note?
To our new members — Welcome!🌻

Feel free to tell us a little bit about yourself: what chronic condition you (or your loved one, if you are a carer) are struggling with? How were you diagnosed? Why did you decide to join Carenity?
Do not hesitate if you have any questions! We are all here to support each other, so feel free to share. 😉
Meanwhile, take care and stay safe!

Hello everyone,
How are you today?
Having a chronic illness can often be an isolating experience - you may not have the energy to socialize, others may not understand what you are going through, and you may feel alienated and alone.
I thought I would open this discussion as a place for us all to come together, regardless of our condition(s), to support one another and chat! Let's use this space to talk about anything and everything - share your mood, your story, your ups and downs and your support!
So, how are you doing today? Do you ever feel lonely in your illness? How do you cope? What has made you smile today? Do you have any hobbies or activities that bring you joy? Do you have anything you want to share with the community?
Feel free to share with us here!
Take care,
Courtney
