Possible complications of asthma include:

• Severe exacerbations: These can occur suddenly, causing a rapid worsening of symptoms and sometimes requiring hospitalization and intensive treatment.
• Respiratory failure: In severe and uncontrolled cases of asthma, respiratory failure can develop, which is life-threatening and may require mechanical ventilation.
• Effects on organs: Long-term uncontrolled asthma can damage the lungs, leading to reduced lung function and complications such as pulmonary emphysema.
