I have just recently been diagnosed with bipolar 1. I suffered a nerves breakdown in 2017, since then it has been very hard. I have been living with family, but I and my physician feel that a place of my own would help. I have no structure or routine. At 50 I feel more lost and afraid then I did at 16

I'm happy with the medication I'm on. I still have ups and downs but they don' t come as often. I feel better. So things are looking up for me. I've been told I need to clean the house better by my husband today. I've been in a depression lately and can't tell him because he'll probably say that's no excuse. Besides that I try to make every day the best I can. When I can.

I too suffer from being bipolar 1. Also OCD and have anxiety. I just recently went to a new neurologist and he put me on three new meds. I went for tremors. I am getting where I can’t hold things. I also am having a lot of confusion and memory loss. It is so bad my daughter took my car away because she is afraid I will have an episode and hurt myself or others. I live about 8 miles from her. She has been driving me too appointments and having to take all of her kids too. 6 of them. I just also had rotator cuff surgeries. My 13 year old granddaughter is staying with me to help out. I have been having episodes of falling down. The neurologist thinks I am having mini seizures hence the three new meds. One for Parkinson’s, one for seizures, and the last for memory. I just started them this week. Hope they help. I am taking OT therapy and speech therapy, also scheduled for physical therapy. I wish I had the car to have some independence. I only have 2 people I can call to talk to. My daughter and my sister. The rest of my family is deceased. I read posts and they are inspiring. Thanks for the help. I am so lonesome it hurts.

I am 64 years old and have been living with bipolar disorder for 40 years. There were many dark days, decades really. But there is hope! I am a success story! It is possible to live a full, happy and productive life with bipolar.
Please share with us your successes and how you achieved them.
I think Carrie Fisher said it best:
"At times, being bipolar can be an all-consuming challenge, requiring a lot of stamina and even more courage, so if you’re living with this illness and functioning at all, it’s something to be proud of, not ashamed of. They should issue medals along with the steady stream of medication"
