I am new to this. This is all very confusing to me so if anyone can help please do so. I was just recently diagnosed and infected. It doesn't seem to bother the people I have told but I dont have many people in my life either. I am on medication. I was diagnosed through routine bloodwork 2 months ago. I am so... I dont know

@amalston02 Hello,
Thanks for your comment and welcome to the forum. I imagine you must be in shock after receiving an unexpected diagnosis, but don't forget that HIV is a treatable chronic illness and most people who receive proper medical care go on to live long and healthy lives. Feel free to reach out to other members for support either by public or private message.
Wishing you the best!

I'm in an HIV activist group where we sometimes host group therapy sessions. One of our members is scared to be out to anyone. She works in a pharmacy and feels like she needs to be honest with them about her status, but I'm like why do they need to know? Has anyone come out about being HIV positive at work? It doesn't seem like a good idea to me.

I don't think it's a good idea. No one needs to know....That will only cause issues.

@amalston02 Hey, how are you doing since six months on? It's really hard when you're first diagnosed. But it sounds like you were in a pretty good place with your friends being accepting.

My partner is HIV-positive. He got the disease through unwise decisions in his past, but has since turned his life around and is healthy and happy. We've been together for 2 years. But, recently a family member found out about his status and told my parents and it's caused a real mess. My family is pretty religious and some of my relatives say I should leave him or that being with him is dangerous for my health.
Has anyone else dealt with people trying to shame you because you're with an HIV poz person or if you are poz? I can't understand all the hysteria this has caused. People on treatment don't die anyone (except very rare exceptions) and my partner is undetectable and we protect ourselves.
This whole situation is just so depressing. Any advice?
