Hi @Minxyahoo, thank you for sharing with us. I'm sorry to hear that! Do you remember how long you were sick with EBV? When did your MS start developing?
For our other members, what do you think? Do you know if you've had EBV before?
We've also just published an article about this news story that you may find interesting: Epstein-Barr virus: Could it be the cause of MS?

I never had EBV or mono even though both of my brothers did with my younger brother having an extreme experience with it that lasted almost a year while I am the only one of my immediate family with MS.

I had mono in high school. I had ebv in grad school. I've always had an issue with energy. I was dx with MS about 10 years after I was dx with ebv.

Hello everyone,
How are you today?![emoticon cute](https://member.carenity.us/static/themes-v3/default/javascripts/vendor/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/cute.png)
If you haven't seen the news already, researchers at Harvard University have just published a study in the journal Science that provides the strongest evidence to date that the Epstein-Barr virus is a trigger for multiple sclerosis!
Using blood samples from more than 10 million military personnel, the research team was able to demonstrate that Epstein-Barr infection precedes both the nervous system damage and the symptoms of MS, and that becoming infected increases the risk for developing MS in susceptible individuals (people with a family history, environment, and/or lifestyle that increases the risk of getting MS).
While the study didn't examine the role of the Epstein-Barr virus in people who already have MS, it gives hope for progess in preventing MS!
What do you think of this news? Do you know if Epstein-Barr played a role in your development of MS?
