I do not think so. I have a membership with a gym up the street and it is pretty popular gym, but I never felt that I was getting stared at. Never had an issue. I used to go pretty often also... have not gone as much lately do to some sensation issues in my legs. Don't worry about that. Stick with your goals and go to the gym. Good luck to you.

@becomingbetter @clarence1954 Ugh I am very worried about this. I can't go right now since the gyms are closed because of the coronavirus, but I'm worried about what it's going to be like when everything opens up again and I can go. Maybe it's different for girls? I feel like girls can be more "judgy" at the gym...

@becomingbetter @Courtney_J I started out initially just by going for long walks. I just wanted to get moving for starters and then work up to a place where I could go full-force in a gym setting. Once I was able to shift some pounds and I felt better about myself then I started going to a gym and I started with a personal trainer just to show me the ropes. I got a few looks at the beginning which bothered me, but now I couldn't care less. I'm doing my best to get healthy and if they wanna stare, they can stare.

Hi everyone. I have been trying to improve my physical condition by walking a bit more than I did every day and eating less than I used to. I know that this is probably not a huge step for many, but it is for me.
I used to be pretty decent weight, but I had some surgeries on my knees from playing sports in my younger years. However, the surgeries went bad and the pain is just chronic at this point. So over the years because of the pain, I just let myself go... I am trying to at least get better just to be around for my kids.
Do you think people will stare if I go to gym now being obese?
