Hi. Happy new workweek. Somya, thank u for starting question. Can exercise and phys activity help depression. Research says Yes!! Now, do I do any form of activity? Sunday is my day for water aerobics at the YW. Missed yesterday, been sick this last week. Figured I should stick that 1 out. When weather nice, love being outside!! I adore walking!! Not to toot own horn, I'm a champ walker!! Even registered for NAMI walk this Sat. 5K, easy! Good friend is sponsoring w $10 per K. Let's hope nice weather holds. Nami is for mental health, since we're discussing depression. Exercise helps the feel good hormones do their thing. I'm interested in other's points on this. This is a jumping off start. Thanks & enjoy rest of week ahead.

How are you all doing today?
We know that depression is a serious mental illness—it's not just about feeling sad. But while it shouldn't be trivialized, there are steps we can take ourselves to help manage it, and physical activity can be a key part of that process. In some cases, engaging in sports or regular physical exercise can be more effective than certain traditional treatments for depression. 🏃♂️💪
It turns out that sports can play a big role in improving mental health thanks to its many benefits, such as:
On top of that, participating in sports can help build a social network, which can be a great support system. 🤝
