Has anyone had radiation and then surgery? or vice versa?
What is the recommended safest treatment and most likely to succeed? Do you lose your ability to function sexually also from radiation?

I have not had both, I have had radiation, the heavy 5 day kind instead of 30 days of lighter. You can function sexually but no ejaculation and have some bladder and bowel problems from the radiation

I had the surgery. It takes time but you will still be able to function after a while. According to my urologist, it depends on how sexually active you are prior to surgery.
A year later I had EBRT and Lupron. They have been a little more difficult to recover from, but finally after 8 months I am beginning to once again respond to stimuli.
It is my understanding that if you have the radiation implants and are required to have surgery at a later date, they cannot spare the nerves, which would have an impact sexual function.

@superman I did radiation and it didn't work. My only other option is to have my voice box removed. Had some bumps along the way. My tumor swelled up blocking my airway so they put a whole in my throat and a feeding tube in my stomach. Still waiting for the main surgery but everything got sidetracked

@MONKEYDOG12 Oh yeah that's understandable. That's crazy what happened to you, I'm sure you're just taking the time your body needs to recover. You'll get it back too
