Hi Clarence, I supplement with Vitamin D; however, I do it because of all the health benefits I have heard that come along with it. Can't say I have noticed anything in relation to my diabetes, but maybe if I was not supplementing I would be worse off.

I read in a recent health article that vitamin D can be a contributing factor to many conditions, including diabetes!
First, the β-cell in the pancreas that secretes insulin has been shown to contain vitamin D receptors. Evidence indicates that vitamin D treatment improves glucose tolerance and insulin resistance. Vitamin D deficiency leads to reduced insulin secretion. Supplementation with vitamin D has been shown to restore insulin secretion in animals.
So, could that mean that Vitamin D supplementation could help combat diabetes progression and/or recovery from diabetes? Anyone have any personal experience?
