@UnschathedSpade7 That's awesome that things have gotten better for you! I think this past year has really been hard on everyone. Things have started looking up for me too. I think the situation kind of forced me to look in the mirror and realize that I need help. I just started online therapy a few weeks ago for the first time ever and it's already helping me to work through things.

I'm glad things are looking up, for you. I also would have to say that this whole COVID epidemic has impacted my mental health for the better as well. I have always been the person that keeps to him/herself and does the whole fake it to make it routine in public. I had been diagnosed with a range of mental issues in early adulthood but over the years just stopped the meds and thought I could just wish it away. I had a major surgery this past fall and was alone really alone for 15 weeks. Due to all the precautions from COVID. I found myself in the worst depression of my life. I became a complete recluse and didn't leave my house or even change out of pajamas. It was a chore to get out of bed and sit in the living room, I just became completely numb to life. Once I rejoined the world again (I had to go back to work, got to pay those bills) my anxiety was higher than it had ever been. I was forced to ask for help. COVID gave me that. I am now working with my doctors to find the right meds and talking to others that are in the same boat helps too.

Thank you both for the feedback on this discussion. #gottgetbr It is awesome to hear that you are starting online therapy. It has been nothing but a good experience for me. The people I talk to in group do not usually act like clinicians, but more like cheerleaders. That is fine with me, I have been living with my illness for so long that it is hard to find anyone who can tell me how to deal with that better than I already do. These women just want to act a little crazy and have a good time, we make each other laugh constantly. It has been one of the best social experiences I have ever gotten myself into and I hope you enjoy group therapy as well as one on one with a clinician. #Oldsoul I am glad to hear that you are no longer stressed about finding work. That would stress me out too no doubt. Fortunately for me my illness has not taken its toll on my body yet. Physically I look and feel better than I have ever been since I was a much younger man, and energy levels are not a problem. Unfortunately, insomnia and and alcohol abuse are both persistent problems. The less I suffer with one the more I suffer the other, and both make it very difficult to hold a job lol. Thanks again for the feedback, and keep in touch if you can :)

Been awhile since I have gotten in touch with you at Carenity. A lot has happened since last I posted here. Getting along great with friends, neighbors and family. Much harder to judge someone for being disabled when so many good folks are out of work. Also I have a new clinician and a great team at BHSN. Have been keeping in touch with them and have developed a good friendship with Terry my clinician over the past six months. Also, she has me attending weekly groups where I get to speak to her team, as well as others who suffer from mental illness. Wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience where they think that Covid-19 has actually impacted the mental healthcare system for the better.
