Hi Lizzi
This is really cool, I wasn't aware of International Flat day. I think body positivity is always such a great cause, I'm glad it's becoming more wide spread. I see this especially with social media. I will have to pay more attention to the events in my community. If there is something near by, I would participate.

@sara_at32 where do you live? There are smaller Flatties groups meeting up in different states. Also join Flat Out Love for more meetups and for people who are like you and understand!

For International Flat Day 2022 I will be at the largest Flatties meet up in the world on the largest flat top mountain in the world, the Grand Mesa in Colorado. So far we have about 130 Flatties coming for community, understanding & healing. About 70 Flatties will have an opportunity to have a Grace Project photo shoot which is so healing. Charise, the amazing human behind the Grace Project and the camera that does amazing work to help any and all types of breast cancer survivors heal. Make sure to check the Project out on Facebook. On International Flat Day, October 7th, we will be having a day of getting to know each other followed by a dinner and a celebration of life.
We are also holding a Flashion Show while we are there, my thought was to do something special that will help these Flatties feel beautiful, dapper, cute or sexy, whichever they identify with as their best because since their surgery a lot haven't felt that way. We have some amazing clothing sponsors to help us with that even including TomboyX, AnaOno, Skarlette & Non-Tas. We also like to have fun so we will also be having a Onsie S'more Flatties which is just a bunch of Flatties around a campfire making s'mores in our onsies, a silent disco & a confidance led by one of the original Flat Activist Melanie Testa.
So many Flatties feel so alone and have never even met another who looks like them or that actually understands what it means to be amputated of a body part that most of society believes makes you a woman.
A flat, heart to heart hug is like no other hug. When you can actually feel someone's heart beat because there's nothing in between it's a pretty special moment. Some of these Flatties had spouses, male and female leave because they no longer have breasts. But what a lot of people don't talk about or acknowledge is with reconstruction comes so many possible problems including Breast Implant Illness. We have a little over 2500 Flatties in our group, Flat Out Love on Facebook and I can't say half because I'm not sure of the exact numbers but a good portion of them didn't chose to go Flat, they actually had implants. But since have gotten sick and had to have them removed and are now Flatties. It's crazy how many of them say they are more comfortable now than they ever were with breasts or even how they wouldn't change it.So for International Flat Day I will be spending it probably high (on a mountain of course) with some of my breast friends and family celebrating life, life as Flatties.
If you are a Flattie you can find us at Flat Out Love on Facebook or if you are trying to decide between going Flat and reconstruction we recommend joining one of the other groups like Flat Closure Now or Fierce Flat Forward. We are a Flatties meetup group where you would get a one sided opinion like you do from doctors but the other groups can help educate you about all of your choices.

Symptoms and complications of breast cancer
What was your age and what initial symptoms did you experience at onset?
positive
@Courtney_J I am getting very nervous and scared because the surgery is July 13, 2021. My parents both died this year so I dont have them to talk to. My mom died on Feb 16, 2021 with a sickness she was suffering for 18 months so i was dealing with that for the last months and then my dad had a major stroke 3 weeks after my mom passed away and he could no longer go back to his assistance living so we had to find a nursing home. We found one he was only in there 3 weeks and then he passed away on May 6, 2021. Right after all that I was diagnosed with cancer so I have been on a train that is non-stop. I feel like I am so tried out and I dont have much energy left. My sisters are not helpful they keep telling me just pray. They both got to take 2 weeks vacation after my mom and dad passed away. I have not even had time to take a breather I am just on the train of bad luck. That is how I am feeling.

Hi everyone,
How are you doing?
We are only a few weeks away from International FLAT Day. This year on October 7th, will be the 4th annual International FLAT Day. “International FLAT Day” was created to celebrate going flat – to promote breast reconstruction awareness, to promote flat closure (breastless, chest wall reconstruction after mastectomy), to promote flat reconstruction as a valid choice, and to bring together the flat community in sisterhood!
Were you aware of International FLAT Day? Have you participated before? Do you want to participate this year?
Post about your past and future plans!
