@PamelaW I am so sorry to hear about your sister. Was this a surgery from cervical dystonia?
I am hopeful that this stabilization surgery helps her. Why would her Physical Therapy insurance deny it? She just had a major operation! That does not make any sense. I would argue for an appeal - you can make an appeal your self or ask the doctor to submit another request with paperwork to support it as it is medically necessary.
I do not feel comfortable giving any recommendations as I never had such surgery, but I would assume she must be careful and that is why she is in a halo. I would try to appeal and if for some reason that fails, try reaching out to hospitals in the areas and even private clinics to see if they offer a sliding scale cash pay price.

Cant give advice on what she should be doing in reagrd to the parts of her body that had surgery; but, should try and remain mobile and not have other parts of her body lock up. be it walking or moving the extremities in motion. but she should not be doing anything that is contraindicated by the doctors orders.

Hello, I am new to the forum. I'm grateful to have found it. I am caregiver to my sister and she recently had major surgery to fuse several of the bones in her neck together. She is in a halo now to stabilize everything and will be in it for 4 more weeks. Her insurance denied her physical therapy, so they just sent her home to get well. I realize you may not be able to give advice about certain things, but she has had no therapy and is wondering are there any exercises she could be doing or what she should be doing. Any help would be appreciated, and thank you for this site. :)
