I have cervical dystonia and suffer from involuntary movements: my neck muscles will spontaneoulsy contract and yes, it is often painful!
Imagine instead of telling your body, let's turn my neck to the right or up or down, your neck just violently does it without any discussion from your self to your brain to your body.

Hi @Dyston!a I experience similar involuntary movements like you. It happens spontaneously; for me these movements are more disabling than anything.

I’ve noticed more and more that certain positions make my head begin to tremor. For example, if I’m too close to a stage and looking up or at the market, looking for items on the top shelves. Anyone else experience this? By the way, I’ve been getting my neck and shoulders massaged twice weekly, along with heat for 10 minutes prior to myofascia release in Physical Therapy and I’ve noticed a huge improvement. Also, I practice deep breathing throughout the day, especially if I feel my head beginning to tremor. I’ll do anything that helps But for now, prefer not to use Botox.

Hello,
One of the main symptoms of focal dystonia is the appearance of involuntary abnormal movements related to the uncontrolled contraction of muscles.
Do you or your loved one suffer from these involuntary abnormal movements?
Is this common? Is it painful? Is it disabling?
Ask your questions here, address your concerns, and share your experience and advice to help other members.
