I used to drink to pass out to sleep. O was self medicating. Guess what? I became a alcoholic. Who seen that coming. I was a drunk that couldn't sleep. I'm proud to say today is 5 years not one drop. Still I would be awake 3 or 4 days I will exhaust my self to that point. I have delta with insomnia before I could remember. All my life I have struggled with mental health issues. I'm trying . people say you up that long you will see crap or hear something. I say NO!. Insomnia comes with the package.. I can't take sleeping pills cause that makes it worse. My body is broken into pieces. Surgery, and others. I can only sleep for 2 or 3 hours tops.what I'm gonna do about it. Starting to exercise dieting and starting to see my therapist.and find support group. also counseling . now we see what can happen. Thank you all

I have severe obstructive sleep apnea and still could not sleep with the CPAP. After talking to the sleep doctor it was suggested that I may have a bit of insomnia also, but I was never treated for the insomnia. I started listening to meditation videos ( including Tibetan monks doing their chanting. I finally found a app that works. Itβs called Sleep easy! It does cost after the free trial but what I learned from that program has helped me a lot.

That would be wonderful but my attention span reaches in the negative side π I was gifted ADHD along with what already have. Tried mindfulness classes after taking two angermanagment courses of 12 weeks each. I need to learn how to channel my energy positively.....

@Dr.WhoPeggygmail.com I have been on Clonopin and Lunesta at night for sleep. Sometimes my depression and anxiety are so bad that I put myself to sleep at 4p.m just so I don't have to deal with anything.

I take melatonin 20mg chewable right before bed and it usually helps me get about 6-7 hours. Itβs natural and you go back to sleep even if you get up at night π

My Dr. prescribed trazadone, which usually keeps me asleep about 4 hours. I wish I could sleep naturally.

I have been taking 400mg of Seraqual and 600mg of gabapentin and if needed .05 of Ambien and .05 Kilonipin if needed, but I'm trying to transition onto old school Pamelor and get off of all that other stuff. I also use meditation at night which really does help calm my mind to put me out. Most of the time. It's really helping with the anxiety. I just don't like the side effects of the older meds but am willing to put up with them until my body gets used to them as it's worth it to get rid of the anxiety.π

As a child I would rock myself till I was worn out enough to sleep, and yes I would play outside most days, back then called it just being a boy, now probably ADHD or such.
as an early teen I found meditation and what now is called mindfulness.
now I have now screen time about an hour before I plan to go to bed, listen to very soft classical guitar music, room tem set for 68-67, sit quietly and release any tension, worries, I try to just empty my mind, brush teeth and into bed,
I have one of those sleep number beds, the built in sensors say I usually fall asleep in 5-10 min, and sleep pretty much the whole night with some normal tossing and turning.
i also have an app on my phone that records for snoring, phone is face down so no light, and in the morning I can look at the readouts from phone and bed, and I have learned that when their readings are under 75%, I am gonna have a lousy day. So then I try and remember what about the day before that may have caused a less night of sleep, and try and lessen what ever I might remember.

I have terrible insomnia which started in my 50's. Prior to that I was an early bird, more diurnal and less nocturnal. This runs in my family and is very debilitating, especially when I quite literally, and I mean that in literal sense, sometimes will go 36=48 hours without sleep.
Sleep hygiene, not drinking anything caffeinated after 2PM, setting my alarm for early in the day and going to be at the same time every night when possible, not online surfing, reading texts or watching TV in my bedroom on my bed, excercising daily for 20-40 minutes, getting out in the sun, and herbal tea for sleep, and/or herbal pills for sleep. Not exercising, eating or drinking any alcohol at least 3 hours before bed and meditation and/or sleep music which there's a wide variety of on UTube, several of which have black screens to prevent the blue light from electronics that can interfere with sleep

Hello everyone,
How are you doing today? π
We all know how challenging it can be to get a good night's sleep , especially when managing a chronic illness. Let's come together and share what works for us. Whether it's a particular routine, a favorite relaxation technique, or even a specific product , your experiences might help someone else in the community. π π€ π
Here are a few questions to get the conversation started:
Do you have a bedtime routine that helps you relax and unwind? Are there any specific products (like pillows, mattresses, or sleep aids) that you find helpful? Have you tried any relaxation techniques such as meditation, deep breathing, or listening to calming music? Do you have any tips for creating a sleep-friendly environment?
