I am in Ohio and our schools are closed the rest of the year. And when they do open things up I hope it's not to early. I read that the vulnerable are to remain home until phase 3. I am an essential worker and have been off since March 14th and dont plan on going back anytime soon because they can not guarantee me 6ft distance at all times and no one wears masks so I will remain home.

I live in a very rural area of Pennsylvania and we have had only a very few people (70) who have gotten the virus and no deaths. It sounds like we may be allowed to open some things in about two weeks. When we do, we still might have to wear masks, but just getting out and doing a few things will feel like a breath of fresh air!.

Some people are getting a learning experience from this lockdown others are not. I can see how people can pay closer attention to acquaintance rather than family members. Remember just because you see someone daily don't make it justified. Do more with those and for granted does not exist.

i feel most places could use 2 more weeks of isolate--only b/c the way i see this going it is likely to cause more cases and death--then this leads to more lockdown....man is his worse enemy

I live in NY and they will start opening in three phases starting May 15. Contruction workers and real estate services will begin first. I'm looking forward to opening up NYC as a whole. I have court cases pending because of the lock down. We'll get there eventually. We just have to be patient awhile longer. I just hope there isn't irreversible damage to small businesses.

I live in Pennsylvania and two thirds of the state has moved to what they call the yellow phase. We can leave the house now and some businesses can reopen with care. There are still some businesses that can not open in the yellow phase. No barbers, hair care places or casinos. It is just nice to get outside! Now if it would only warm up so we can enjoy it.

Personally, I believe opening things back up this early is a real gamble. People will not follow proper social distancing guidelines, and the virus will have an enormous up swing as asymotomatic people spread the virus along. I have family who contract with the CDC, and he says we should remain in, at least, partial isolation for the duration of the summer, until we see how COVID seasonally reacts to the summer months here in the United States and the rest of the northern hemisphere. As a 39 immunosuppressed person with a family, I'm personally staying in until a vaccine is developed, which will most likely take until the summer of 2021. I'm not risking my health, or the health of my wife or son because the inept government says they want normalcy again.

@Courtney_J I live in New Hampshire and although our governor adheres to the guidelines, some do not. I am hoping he will extend the 2nd phase till at least June. I have MS, but I am not currently on a treatment plan for relapses, so I am not sure how the Virus attacks me for the MS, but I am over 65, so that is one strike against me.

I have Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma cancer and just finished my last chemotherapy treatment. But, even if I didn't have cancer, I still think it's a gamble to open things up too quickly. Any lives lost are tragic. I think precautions and social distancing should continue around the world until a vaccine is available and we know it works for sure to prevent deaths.

Hello everyone,
If you haven’t already seen in the news, many countries in Europe and elsewhere in the world are starting to discuss or put measures in place to end the COVID-19 lockdown.
The White House recently released guidelines for reopening the nation in three phases to be implemented on a state-wide or regional basis. Before initiating the phased comeback, states must satisfy the following criteria:
The three phases run from continued remote work and physical distancing for vulnerable individuals, to schools reopening and nonessential travel resuming. The last phase of the plan allows vulnerable individuals to participate in public interactions and permits employers to staff work sites without restrictions. For more details on the individual phases, you can take a look at the proposed plan here.
Is your state preparing to end its lockdown? Do you think it’s too early? What do you think the impact will be on people with chronic illnesses?
Feel free to share your thoughts below!
Take care,
Courtney
