@Athijssen What kind of mattress and base are you using? Sleeping is uncomforable for me in bed alone... I still manage to sleep in bed with modifications such as a wedge (so basically sleeping as if in recliner), but seldom do so because the recliner I have is still more comfortable. It sounds like you have made great adjustments and modifications we can all learn from.
The recline I use is the Human Touch Motion Perfect Chair... it allows you to assume zero-gravity position. I know they have a newer chair called ZERO GRAVITY, but not sure the exact difference, since my chair also allows that position. I highly recommend it; you feel more rejunivated too after being in the zero gravity position. I also have a desk attached to it to allow me to use laptop when needed, but I usually use "speak to text" when I need to do any long writing, like now.
I also use a far-infrared heating system while I sit and do work. It eases the pain and allows me to fill more mobile. I also use it before I do any sort of exercise like walking and tai-chi.

@nomasAS Dino Game So instead of just saying your title, explain something he or she might not know about your work or industry.

1. I used and adjustable base i pourchased on amazon, the name brand ones are so expensive and this was 1/3 of the price. It works for me as i sleep in the same elevateed position. On bad days I use the bed as a zero graviyt-ish chair by elevatring the head and feet. I use a memory foam matress, again not the name brand but one of the up and coming brands online. I put a pillow top topper on top of that and i can sleep in bed again.
2. I am looking at a similar chair, id love to have the massage function also but those are so bulky and ugly Plus its great for a massage but i think for longer duration of sitting the true zero gravity chair would be more comfortable
I am definatley looking to add the heat function and the desk piece also.
3. I am an engineer and i work from home about 50% of the time, since i spend a lot of time on webex meetings, a chair like that plus my ipad connected to apple TV onto my big screen tv thats mounted up high could give me a postion to work in for at least a few hours a day, plus watch tv at night
I am going to try and see if I can pay for the chair out of my HSA, the store told me they will work with me on that. I will let you know how it goes

@Athijssen Good luck! I think for your job and your needs you will find the chair greatly benefits you! The infrared heat is great because it does not get "hot" like normal heating pads (well you do not feel the heat superficially) but it gets deep into the muscle and deeper tissues providing me with greater flexibility and pain relief.
Your bed setup sounds like mine just with different modifications.

I've used a Perfect Touch Zero Gravity chair for about 15 years. When it wears out, I'm getting another regardless of the cost. I used to sleep in the chair (about 4-5 years) until another health problem "insisted" I sleep on my side. I "pillow up" in bed and am sleeping well about 7-9 hours a night. I do turn about 2-3 time per night.

My last decision was to purchase a massage chair for my office, I have my Nokaxus YK-6008 and it changed my life to the better, I suppose. So, I hope, it could be useful for someone.

@Satkanchik Interesting, what's the price point on it? I'm looking into getting a new one because my home office situation is not ideal but I don't want to break the bank.

I have been reading the posts and I am encouraged for those who can find relief. My husband is in the severe range because he wasn't diagnosed until he was 65. He has always had back pain but no DR. picked up on that it could be AS.
The zero chairs that we have looked at sound good except we don't think he can get out of it. He requires a lift chair to get out of his recliner. He has diabetes and has been advised by his DR. not to use the infrared heat on his back except for 30 mins a couple of times a day. He hurts a lot when he first lays down but eases up after a little while. He can't get out of bed unless he uses a bar that fits under the matress. I don't want to sound negative about it all. He uses a walker to help him walk without falling down. If nothing else, it should encourage everyone to get early intervention as he had not received any.
We would apreciate any advice you can give us.

@CDKennedy There are now zero gravity chairs which tip forward too in order to assist getting out of the chair. Look at Relax the Back chairs. Andrew Leblanc is the brand.
My chair of 16+ years finally gave out so I ordered another American made zero gravity chair, this time motorized for tilting back and elevated footrest. It is easy for to get out of since it sits about 3 inches higher than my previous chair.

Has anyone here with AS has tried the use of a zero gravity and or massage chair ?
i changed my bed to a memory foam mattress and adjustable base with good results, I sleep in bed again instead of in a recliner. I use a lumbar support in my office chair and try to move around regularly. I use a wireless headset that gives my flexibility and mobility during conference calls. I purchased a car with very comfortable and multi-way adjustable seats.
Any other ideas/experiences ?
