@Geopeach58 Same. I was pre-diabetic when I got the diagnosis and had high levels of HDL.
I am so sorry to hear about your grandmother... did it become cirrosis of the liver?

@Geopeach58 I wonder if I was pre-diabetic also, but did not know. I was overweight though and high cholesterol.

Yes. I have thyroid disease and had a sudden weight gain which made me somewhat overweight. Then I had the bad HDL and was pre diabetic. Now I am diabetic but diet control. I have lost 40 lbs but can’t seem to lose anymore. My mother also had this and so did my brother I have an appointment coming up soon to find out what my levels are. I have been having pain in the liver area and I’m really nervous how my levels will be. Thanks everyone to allow us to talk about this. Not everyone understands what we are going through because they aren’t.

@Sharcahill I have heard from many people that their family members had it also. you are not alone in this.
I was diabetic and had experienced significant weight gain. Discomfort in the stomach was what made my doctor look further.

I have recently found out that my cirrhosis is not nash but cryptogenic cirrhosis due to my ulcerative colitis. My kidneys are still in stage 3 of renal failure. I have to take water pills every day or my swell in my stomach and I don't pee also having problems with low BP

@Ladylucylu1 I am sorry to hear that! I do not know much about cryptogenic cirrhosis... is it similar to NASH?

Hello everyone,
How are you today? Have you seen this older discussion?
Did you have any of the risk factors associated with NAFLD or NASH (diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, high cholesterol...) before you were diagnosed? Did your doctor ever mention either condition to you throughout the years or did the diagnosis come out of the blue?

Hello,
Did any of you have the common risk factors associated with diagnosis of NAFLD: obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or diabetes?
I was already overweight, but not severely obese. I wish I would have taken better care of myself and maybe I would not have had this dang condition.
