@Courtney_J I honestly haven't really thought about how it could affect me. I've just been trying to wash my hands more and work from home. Is there anything particular I should be worried about?

@new2diabetes I've read that we should be concerned because our blood sugar fluctuations can be hard on the immune system, and if your body is trying to handle that and fight a virus at the same time, it could cause complications or it could be hard to recover.
There's no reason to panic, though. Just make sure you keep doing like you're doing (washing hands, not sneezing on people, avoiding crowds), make sure you've got enough prescriptions and supplies, and if you're really worried try to talk to your doctor. If everyone plays the game we should all be fine.

@jaks134 @new2diabetes Hello all, if you haven't seen already, the other day we published an article that breaks down the coronavirus and tries to bring together some useful information and links. I'll link it below:

Take care,

@jaks134 Most places I go have a drive through window. They closed the lobby and you have to pick up what you need at the window. I guess that's a smart thing to do. Less chance of contact.

@mark60 @jaks134 Yeah, there's a drive-thru CVS pharmacy right near my house, so I go there when I need to pick up my prescriptions. I'm talking with my insurance to try to get my insulin and prescriptions through the mail. They're being more lenient about refill limits and all that.

Hi everyone,
If you haven't already seen, we're conducting a survey to better understand the impact the coronavirus has on people with chronic illnesses in their daily lives and their management of their condition. If you haven't had the chance to take it, I'll link it here: COVID-19 Survey
How are you all handling this social distancing?
Take care,
Courtney

I have type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure. I'm scared out of my mind. I haven't been out of the house for almost two weeks now. My daughter runs to town daily and I'm freaking out. I stay away from her. I don't like living like this but the alternative seem much worse. Idk. Sometime I think ...just go out and get it over with

I am a type 2 diabetic and recently went into the doctor's and my A1C is 8.2 percent and was told this high number is a death sentence if I get the coronavirus is this true?

8.2 is high but when I was first diagnosed, my A1C was 11.2. But with exercise, diet change and medicine my A1C is 4.4. We definitely have to be extra careful and stay home. I can't say it's a "death sentence" because I know individuals that have diabetes and the coronavirus and they're coming alone just fine. It might take longer for a person, whose immune system is compromised to heal than a person who have no underlying issues. Please take care of yourself.

Hello everyone,
Since the Coronavirus pandemic concerns many Americans (and Carenity members too), I've created this discussion to allow you to talk specifically about the virus in the context of Type 2 diabetes, as we all know that people with underlying health conditions can be more affected.
Are you worried about the coronavirus? Have you received any special instructions from your doctor regarding your care? Are you going to limit your travel? Do you have any advice for others?
Take care,
Courtney
