I'm looking into medical marijuana as a symptom reliever of focal dystonia. Has anyone had any success out there using cannabis for focal dystonia?

I would be interested in seeing about this also. I tried CBD but it did not help... CBD is what seems to help most with with twitches and tremors, but interested in hearing about cannabis as a whole.

I don’t have exp but asked my specialist about it. He said he didn’t think Dystonia was on the list for chronic pain etc. I find this ridiculous since it’s never really gone and when the muscles spasm and get tight there is very little that can be done. I for one am all for medical marijuana.

hi @Chi910‍ I think unfortunately there are many doctors out there that are still just "anti-cannabis" despite the countless people who have benefited from it. I would be curious to know what state you live in? Some states are just so far behind than others.

@Awatchman I have never tried pure cannabis, but have tried the extract of it, CBD.

There are others with focal dystonia who had benefits from cannabis. Each person is unique. Here is a research article to the promising effects of marijuana https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4604174/

Research has found that medical cannabis for dystonia does improve symptoms. Cannabis contains two main cannabinoids that activate the CB1 and CB2 receptors of your endocannabinoid system. These are tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD), and they help regulate the inhibitory and excitatory neurotransmitters necessary to diminish muscle tremors and spasticity.

Are you able to get cannabis, be it medically or recreational in your state?

Are you presently using hemp CBD? How is it working for you? Yes cannabis and medical marijuana are both legal in Florida.

I live in Florida where it's legal.The application for a marijuana card listed muscle spasms. It's just the money up front for the consultation and the card and to register with the state. I wanted feedback to see if I'm headed in the right direction for my focal dystonia. Yes many people have had great experience with this. Especially with pain.

Important note for cannibas users of those that wish to try using it for Dystonia symptoms; Make sure to purchase an Indica, not a Sativa if purchasing a product with THC. I have been able to sleep without any Flexedil or Lunesta since I began using Indica before bedtime. Try it, you have nothing to lose.
