@Kristina_M I am sorry you have not received any responses to your question. Many members in the Cancer groups have stated that they have had good results from the use of marijuana for pain, and there are also some members discussing research that says it can help cure the symptoms.
I am tagging some members diagnosed with IBD to hopefully lend some input on their stories/experiences or for them to gain information as well.

@Kristina_M, @Userlevel6 posted about his experience with marijuana and how it had helped him tremendously.

I went for sativa-biased hybrids mostly. Like 60-40 ratio, but I can't honestly say I noticed a lot of difference in the effectiveness of any strain over another in terms of cramping & gas. My preference was mostly due to wanting a clear head to be able to work. Indicas make me more groggy than sativas. In general, Sativas = more head activity, thus tend to trigger more anxiety & paranoia, while Indicas = more body relaxation.

@Userlevel6 What symptoms did you find the use of marijuana helped with? was it only certain symptoms? Was it all gut related symptoms?

I use it, it helps with all you said and more, sleep, relaxation, nerves, and smiles laughs giggles too. Our mood is so important in our overall healing and even surviving. Only neg. side effects are, it's not covered under insurance, yet I hope, and not recognized in some states yet. No travel sacks allowed. It is the closest thing to the miricle cure. I've know that since 1971.

I have a card here in Minnesota so I can purchase Medicinal Cannabis at state run dispensaries. I’ve had numerous surgeries for Crohn’s disease and have been diagnose with it for 47 years. What I get from the dispensary is in capsule form, it’s 100% (THC) and you swallow the caplet with any liquid and it’s recommended to have just a little food with it. It’s true a miracle for me, it completely quiets the large and small intestine, all the bloating from gas is gone, the pain is gone. Nothing else over the counter or prescription can top the benefits.

Thank you all for sharing, I've been interested in medical marijuana so it's good to here that it helps for Crohn's! I've been considering CBD for a while because it doesn't have the "high" to it but I don't know if it works the same way. Does anyone know?

Honestly don't know, but in my humble opinion, the combination of THC and CBD together is more effective than either one on it's own. What AllenFromMinneapolis said as far as cannabis for symptom management was my experience for over 30 years. I've had one surgery, in 2018. Between diagnosis in 1985 and eventually having to deal with the "transverse colon" area becoming constricted after all those years, I avoided prescription meds out of concern for potential kidney and liver damage. I started on Entyvio in late summer 2015, because it had come to a point where I had to do something different. Now I'm still on Entyvio, and cannabis is no longer as necessary as I found it to be, but I'd turn to it again in a second if I was having the twisting, churning, gassy, crampy life I started experiencing in the 80's and through most of my life.

Some patients with Crohn's recommend medicinal for cramps, back pain, lack of appetite, joint pain, headaches and more. Does anyone have any experiences? If so, from what strand?
