"End-stage" emphysema for long enough I don't remember when it was diagnosed but guessing 2008 -/+. Currently 4x/day nebulizer ipratropium bromide and albuterol, supplemental O2 set on 3, daily shot of Trelegy, and an albuterol 'rescue inhaler.' I quit a 2 pack a day smoking habit in 1993.

@Sugar67 I'm very sorry to hear. I suffer with COPD not on oxygen yet. I do neb treatments and inhalers right now. I had 2 strokes in 2018 also diagnosed with Functional Neurological disorder and a blood condition where my blood clots easily and causes strokes. I recently had a CT scan. They found a spot on my lung but because it's only 6mm they do a biopsy yet on it they said. It has to get to atleast 10mm smaller than that it can show a.false positive or negative. They are gonna scan again in 3 months to monitor it.

So just an update
at my last PFT my pulse oxygen dropped significantly when doing the 6 min walk, oops, in prior (3 months ago) reading were at expected levels
so now on 2L oxygen when doing strenuous stuff, exercises, yard work etc.
though I found something interesting, the portable oxygen concentrator that we carry around like a large shoulder bag, or backpack, the filters do not filter out viruses. So I do not use it if I am going shopping or such. Sure put on my mask, then put oxygen tube into nose, and then have the machine suck in room or outside air, floating in such air is who knows, and deliver that straight into my nose and lungs. Yeap. Yes I do have small canisters of oxygen that I could use if needed, but at this point I don’t need unless exercising or very strenuous chores.

Hello All! My name is Grace Price and my diagnosis is COPD w/Asthma. I lived in NM at the time where the elevation in Albuquerque is about 5500 feet above sea level and that affected my breathing, along with 45 years of 1 pack a day. I quite in 2018…2 years after my diagnosis. I had a very scary exacerbation. That scared me and I promptly quit. I did get my dr to prescribe Chantix and it worked!
i am excited to be here. Thanks for dropping in.

66 y/o male diagnosed with IPF in 2022. Started taking Ofev to slow down progression. Considering a lung transplant but it’s a difficult decision. I am pretty healthy except for my lungs.

Can we be prescribed anything for the anxiety caused by shortness of breath (dyspnea)?

In order to deal with any anxiety during sob episodes, I try to focus on an object while concentrating on deep breathing exercises until it's under control. Works well for me. I'm a firm believer in no more meds than absolutely necessary.
