@Courtney_J I think for me it's the breathlessness. I used to be really active and in shape, but now I really struggle with catching my breath. I can barely go up and down stairs without losing my breath!

For me it's the constant dry coughing, especially at night. Amlnd wheezing at night! Makes it hard to sleep and hard to catch my breathe. I get stares like I'm sick but I'm not its my asthma.

How are you today? Have you seen this older discussion? 😊
What aspect of living with asthma do you find most bothersome? Is there a specific symptom you wish you could get rid of or ignore?

@Somya.P The most bothersome part of having acute severe uncontrolled asthma is hiding it from others. I was brought up by a family that considered me an embarrassment to them. I have had asthma since I was a baby. The worst part of asthma in my early years was not being hospitalized most of my first 7 years of life, but the really bad part would be what my family would do to me when I would get out of the hospital. Getting beaten was so hurtful but not just the pain from being hit with stuff like the fireplace pokers but the lack of any support at home. It was like the hospitalizations were a break from terror that I endured from my family. Till this day the top of my hip, lower back, and my spine show evidence of my past.

I am a human but I will never know what not having to think about breathing is like. I have survived many life threatening episodes before I was 10 months old. I am a bit disgusted with myself because I am so envious of regular breathers. I was conditioned to believe that I was normal and that I should be tougher. I wish that I could take away the physical and mental scars imbedded into me by my family. The asthma and the stopping living were nothing compared to my conditioning by the family.
