I have asthma too.. I'm on pro air and abuterol for my neublizer and singular .. Should I be taking all of these .. I read up on them none of them are steroids but I was wandering if they would possibly help me with my breathing if I did get it

@Readybird19641! No Singulair isn't a steroid because I'm on it. It's a oral corticosteroid and it helps me just fine and I have severe persistent asthma which is the most life threatening and dangerous type of severe asthma anyone could ever have, plus, I am on a brand new rescue inhaler that just came out, that my allergist just put me on a month ago, called Airsupra and he also just put me on Breztri 2 puffs 2 daily and I will tell you that is helping tremendously! That Breztri is a inhaled corticosteroid. Plus, I do a nebulizer every 4 to 6 hours as needed as well because I have tried all of the other rescue inhalers and plus I have tried all of the inhaled corticosteroids, like,Advair,Symbicort,Spiriva,Dulera,Pulmicort and a bunch of others I can't remember.

@Readybird19641! unless your doctor says otherwise, stay on them. I use singular and pro air also. If you are still having symptoms then call your doctor.

I use symbicort, pro air and singulair. I also have a nebulizer with albuterol. I have continued with all of my medications to keep my airways clear and am staying at home for the time being. Don’t want to risk anything. Hope everyone is doing the same.

I am on symbicort and ProAir but I have not had to use my rescue inhaler ProAir in about 3 years even when I had the flu. I have been checking my oxygen daily not so how much that matters

I was told during a tellacall by my Dr. that I have covid 19 and my family was quarantined for 2 weeks. She said she had no tests and if I get worse to go to ER. My asthma made it worse. Though I was trying to stay out of the ER., exactly a week later from first symptoms I decided to go. I was so short of breath, and exhausted with a progression through the week that I could barely walk. The ER Dr. told me that my outcome was the same as many of those with Covid 19, that he was sure I had it but no testing available. He said I had pleurisy and a lung infection, but no pneumonia as I did not produce anything with cough and had a normal oxygen saturation rate. Has anyone else gotten pleurisy or an infection that was not pneumonia with this virus? I was curious because I have not seen any information on that specifically.

Hello everyone,
Thank you all for sharing your advice and how you are doing! If you haven't already seen, we've just published an interview with another Carenity member on his experience as an asthma patient with the coronavirus. I'll link it below. He gives some great insights into how the coronavirus presents for people with asthma.

Hey,
I haven't been on in a while since I've been busy, but with this coronavirus epidemic I'm a bit worried. Since the virus is so hard on the respiratory system I'm worried that my inhalers (I'm on Albuterol and Qvar) are putting me at a greater risk. Do you think we should cut down our use of them? Especially the Qvar? I've heard that steroids really do a number on the immune system. Does anyone have any thoughts or advice?
Thanks.
